Lance Skifter - Senior Pastor
Lance was raised in a Christian home and loved going to church. Devoted Christian service can be traced back to his maternal grandparents who ran a ministry to servicemen in Long Beach from 1960-1983. Although he was raised in the church and was a relatively good kid growing up, his driving motivation was being accepted by others. This led him to reflect the life of a Christian when he was with Christians and to reflect the life of a non-Christian when he was with non-Christians. Ultimately Lance’s Christian friends became fewer and fewer and, therefore, his life was defined more and more by worldly actions – thus revealing that his heart was not transformed. After a failed marriage and becoming an alcoholic, God got Lance’s attention, and at 26 years old, the Holy Spirit transformed his heart from stone to flesh. From that point on God gave him a passion for the truth and a love for the church. Pastor Lance came to Faith Christian Church in 2007 as the youth pastor and has been our Senior Pastor since August 2008. Lance is married to Erin, “the most beautiful girl in the world.” The couple has twin sons, Elijah and Samuel. When asked about his favorite Scripture, Pastor Lance said, “It’s hard to narrow it to just one; however, as a pastor, one verse that I keep reminding myself of is found in Galatians 1:10. For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
